Romy S. Taubman was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1993, and has focused solely on family law since 2008, becoming partners with C. Clay Greene and Beth S. Jordan in 2010. Romy is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State of California, Board of Legal Specialization.
Romy received her B.A. in American Studies from Stanford, with distinction, in 1989. In 1994, Romy began in private practice as a corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions/public offerings attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto. She moved to Japan in 1998, and worked as a corporate attorney in Japan for a number of years, before returning to California. In 2008, Romy transitioned from corporate law to family law.
Romy's legal background, involving complex business transactions, gives her added skills that she brings to the financial issues that arise in family law. She has handled many cases which require specialized understanding necessary to address businesses jointly owned by divorcing spouses. She is knowledgeable regarding the division of the myriad of salary and equity structures in today’s business world, including general and limited partnership interests, LLC membership interests, common stock, preferred stock, ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, PSUs, etc.
Romy also handles custody matters: both in mediation and litigation. She prides herself on being a pragmatic, solution-oriented practitioner. As a mother of three teen-age children, Romy understands the range of emotional and practical issues that naturally arise in a divorce when children are involved.
Romy’s practice is wide ranging. She represents clients in litigated matters, serves as a mediation consultant, and is an experienced mediator. Romy completed Steve Rosenberg’s 40 hour training in mediation. In any of these roles, Romy’s goal is the same: to help her clients attain an effective, efficient and economical resolution, whether through settlement, mediation or trial.
