C. Clay Greene (Ret)
Clay grew up in North Florida, spent two years in the Army, arrived in the Bay Area in 1970 and has never left. He was admitted to the Bar in 1977 and has practiced Family Law exclusively since 1986. Prior to becoming a family lawyer, he practiced civil litigation focusing on real estate matters.
In his 42 years of practice Clay has represented a diverse range of clients including noted celebrities, business leaders and community activists. Clay has extensive trial, settlement and mediation experience which has led him to be one of the respected voices of the family law community in the bay area. Clay’s knowledge and understanding of the law and the divorce process has lead him to expand his practice to include private judging and mediation of complex cases.
Clay is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell for over 35 years and has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" in Northern California every year since the inception of the survey.
Clay’s bar related activities include past President of the Marin County Bar Association (1993), two terms on the Marin County Bar Association Board of Directors, five years of service on the Advisory Commission to the California State Bar Family Law Specialist Board (Chair 2000), Trustee of the Marin County Law Library, Board member and President of Families in Transition, Board member of Marin Legal Aid and service on the Board of the Marin Family Law Center (President 1992). Clay has served as a settlement master, mediator and Private Judge Pro Tem.
